About Anna Stuffco

Anna Stuffco is Senior Counsel at the Public Prosecution Service of Canada. She prosecutes federal statutes, primarily the CDSA, and is frequently litigating complex cases in the Court of Kings Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal. Anna was born and raised in Edmonton. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2011 and the Alberta bar in 2015. Prior to joining the PPSC Anna practised in Toronto under the tutelage of one of Canada's top criminal lawyers. Anna is a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta. She is the PPSC’s lead counsel in the Edmonton Indigenous Court and is extensively involved as a stakeholder. She is also the national co-chair of the Council for Indigenous Employees and sits on the national Indigenous Justice and Reconciliation committee. In 2022, Anna created and developed the BIAS protocol which is a practical tool prosecutors can reference when dealing with Indigenous accused. The first of its kind, Anna’s BIAS protocol has been rolled out across Canada and is informing the way prosecutors approach Indigenous accused persons. Through her work Anna empowers and encourages her colleagues to walk path of reconciliation on a daily basis. She is married with two small children.
