About Anna Todd

As a communications and engagement specialist, I am proud to be part of the comms team working for the Cambridge Children’s Hospital project, which will be the first specialist children’s hospital for the East of England. It will treat mental and physical health together, alongside world-leading research. I am employed by CPFT, the mental health trust which makes up the triumvirate partnership with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Cambridge. Every day is different, working with academics and researchers, healthcare professionals, architects and designers, project managers, journalists and photographers, as well as children, young people and families. Part of my role is to lead and line manage a team of engagement specialists, working with them to ensure children, young people, parents, and carers play an active role in shaping their new hospital. I continually learn from my team, whilst supporting their own professional development. I work with research teams, clinicians, fundraisers and project managers to involve patients and their families in key pieces of work, from reviewing research literature and survey questions to joining a working group aimed at bringing about positive change in children's healthcare journeys. As content lead, I work with people to share their healthcare experiences, which, in turn, raise awareness of this important project and increase donations to the fundraising campaign. I am kind, empathetic and supportive to the people whose stories I tell, ensuring they are fully involved in the process. This ethical and participatory approach to storytelling builds trust and ensures lasting relationships. I work across all digital platforms, leading the development and delivery of video, audio and written content for our website, social media channels, newsletters and other stakeholder communications. I have worked as part of third sector communications teams for the last five years, both as an employee and as a freelancer. Prior to this I was a multi-skilled reporter, live news presenter and video journalist for BBC East, with a special focus on healthcare and human interest. I shoot and edit the video content for the Cambridge Children's Hospital project, and have been invited by other charitable organisations to create their videos and written content. Working for causes that I feel passionate about - the ones that make a real and lasting difference to people's lives - is my reason to get up in the morning.
