About Anna Tran

Hello! My name is Anna, and I am a graduate of Yale University with a B.A. in the History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health on a pre-med track. I am particularly interested in studying the intersections between race, health, and history, as well as redefining patient care to individualized needs and community-based practices. I've also been intrigued by the idea of holistic healthcare, and how a healthcare professional's role in holistic healthcare should be defined. With varying environmental factors like education, housing, and socioeconomic status, I aim to learn more about these different systems by working with different non-profit and volunteer organizations. To understand individualized needs in a community setting, I have worked with various impactful organizations, like Immigrant Social Services (ISS), Send Chinatown Love (SCL), Matriculate, Yale Community Kitchen (YCK), and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), to examine the necessity of cultural background and context applied in a real-world setting. Before graduating, I was involved in the Yale Clinical and Translational Accelerator (CTRA) as a research assistant and assist on projects such as the Kidney BioBank, the Yale Digital Health Study, and the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP). I currently just finished my role as a Yale-China Fellow, a 2-year fellowship that allows me to teach and build community in Changsha, China.
