About Anna Turner

My career spans media, education, and research, with a particular emphasis on faculty development and instructional innovation. I began teaching at the university level in 2007 and transitioned into research and faculty development roles in 2010. I recently completed a Ph.D. in Media Studies, where my research focuses on the intersections of political media, social media, and popular media, particularly their influence on political polarization. My dissertation employed an experimental design to examine how exposure to political, social, and popular media affects political polarization. I have completed extensive training in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. My quantitative coursework includes regression analysis, categorical data analysis (logistic, ordinal, and multinomial regression), quasi-experimental and causal inference methods, longitudinal data analysis, survey measurement, and hierarchical linear modeling. As an instructional specialist, I led initiatives focused on evidence-based teaching practices. I built and managed a team of researchers and classroom observers, and I led other specialist teams in implementing faculty training programs grounded in research-based methods. Each semester, I directed multiple programs and research projects, including an award-winning active learning initiative, and contributed to several university-wide research efforts. Moving forward, I aim to work in the media sector where I can apply my expertise in media research, statistical analysis, curriculum development, communication, leadership, teaching, and instructional design.
