About Anna Vidlak

I was first exposed to the nursing profession as a Junior Volunteer for the Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. There, I had my first patient experience which inspired me to become a nurse. Nursing school has expanded my knowledge in the profession by allowing me to grasp its important teachings of building a therapeutic relationship, utilizing the nursing process, and perfecting my critical thinking skills. In nursing school, I strived to expand my knowledge in nursing interventions such as emergency preparedness and became ACLS and PALS certified. In the Summer of 2021, I was fortunate to be a part of the Bon Secours Mercy Health Nurse Externship Program. There, I showcased my knowledge in medical-surgical nursing and gained vital nursing skills such as organization, prioritization, and communication. I worked as a team with my fellow colleagues to provide safe and compassionate care to all patients. Outside of nursing, I have worked as a Lifeguard for two consecutive summers and for Backstage Library Works, a company hired by UVA to help renovate Alderman Library. I am now a fourth year nursing student at the University of Virginia currently interested in a Registered Nurse position for Spring 2022 nursing student graduates. I am looking for a position that challenges me and enhances my leadership skills. My preferred areas of interest are Pediatrics and Obstetrics with a future goal of advancing my nursing knowledge through higher education.
