About Anna Wien

Passionate about sustainable urban development and public participation. Anna is currently the Managing Director at Participation Factory, designing inclusive, data- and consensus-driven governance and decision-making processes. In the past, Anna co-founded and coordinated the Public Space Network (PSN) bringing together citizen’s groups, municipal authorities and experts to address urban social and environmental issues through upgrading of misused public spaces in Nairobi, Kenya. Under Anna’s leadership, PSN has scaled up the international award-winning Changing Faces Competition from the neighborhood to the city-wide level, mobilizing 114 community groups to adopt and transform the same number of previously neglected public spaces into clean, safe and productive community spaces, and identify income-generating activities to ensure the long-term maintenance while creating job opportunities for unemployed youths. Anna graduated from Sciences Po University in Paris, with masters in urban policy (focus on African and Latin American cities), and bachelor degree in social sciences with majors in African Studies and Development Economics.
