If you ask me, Bioinformatics is the perfect combination of several of my biggest interests: contemplating the molecular mechanisms of life and evolution, understanding computational problems, and solving logical puzzles. After finishing my masters degree in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (Joint Degree UvA – VU) I started with my current job as a researcher in Bioinformatics at Enza Zaden. My daily challenges involve working on projects associated with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), long-read sequencing data (PACBio, Nanopore) and pangenomics.
