About Anndal Narayanan

I am a scholar and teacher of modern military and European history, and have six years of experience teaching as an instructor of record (four of which in online teaching), with eleven years of experience total in undergraduate education. I have offered undergraduate courses in modern military, modern European, French, Middle Eastern/North African, and global history at Virginia Tech, the University of North Florida, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and Duke University. Non-majors often take two, three, or four classes with me. I received my Ph.D. in Modern European History from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2016, with the support of a Fulbright fellowship to do research in France. I am effectively bilingual in French and have extremely high cross-cultural competency. I excel at communicating complexity to nonspecialists, project management, and writing for a wide variety of audiences. I am currently finishing revisions to my first book, Home from the War With No Name: Algerian War Veterans in France, to appear with the University of Nebraska Press.
