About Anne Devarennes

Music has been a part of my life forever. My mother said I started humming before I talked. A combination of choral music, musical theatre, folk and rock singing accompanied by my guitar in bands and duos colored my life through college and qualified me for a run at Miss America. Acting was also a driving force in my life and sent me into the arms, or teeth, of the entertainment biz. Combined with my almost crazy love of high speed driving, I morphed into a precision driver (Stunt driving without the crashes) in TV series, Feature Films, Car shows and Commercials. After more than 30+ years of driving, I decided to return to my musical roots. Though I still enjoy working as a driver, I am also focused on my role as a music teacher, instructing students on piano, guitar, voice and performance. My method of teaching is not wholly conventional. I do not arrive for lessons with a ruler and a stern expression. Music is emotional and each student is unique in his or her talents and goals. Together we choose music that is appealing and exciting. My lessons are a combination of classical, sight reading, chords, theory, pop and rock music. We concentrate, get frustrated, break through learning barriers, laugh, feel and move forward to find joy and a sense of achievement. Music is not only about performing or sharing your gifts with others, but is also an individual pursuit. Sometimes playing alone in the dark, brings the most contentment.
