About Anne Gresch

My passion for science began in high school and has guided my path ever since - from earning degrees in biology and pharmacology to my current postdoctoral research at the intersection of pharmacology and bioengineering. I’m fascinated by how biological differences shape disease and health outcomes, and my work focuses on understanding how sex influences diabetes development and treatment. Diabetes affects over 540 million people worldwide, yet most therapies don’t account for biological sex differences. My research explores how insulin-producing pancreatic beta-cell subpopulations differ between males and females, and how these differences might protect some individuals from disease. The goal is to help inform more personalized and effective therapeutic strategies. What drives me most is the structure, creativity, and collaboration that science demands. My transition to the United States strengthened my adaptability and reinforced my commitment to teamwork and communication. As president of the CU Denver Postdoc Association, I’ve worked to build community, support early-career researchers, and foster collaboration across disciplines. I’m passionate about applying my scientific training, leadership, and problem-solving skills to make an impact—whether through academic research, industry innovation, or interdisciplinary collaboration.
