It’s time for embedded economic thought. Economies are part of a planetary ecology. We can minimise climate breakdown and social injustices by including ecological thinking in economics. In my work I explore which financial and economic structures fit embedded economics. Today, many laws and institutions incentivise unsustainable behaviour. What alternatives are suggested by complementary currencies, impact measurement and the commons, and can they help to redefine economic practices?
