About Anne Wickham

I'm an award-winning stakeholder engagement and communication strategist who has run my own agencies for more than 20 years and worked with over 100 clients. I have a proven record of contributing to the success of major projects and achieving better outcomes for people. I do this by analysing and helping organisations address the real problems that need to be solved. Often this involves indepth conversations to identify insights first. I am a 'sharp shooter' called in to help support business and technology transformations, anticipate and manage issues, engage stakeholders and achieve positive PR. My work is grounded in critical thinking, and often transforms how organisations engage and communicate by ensuring there is a strategy in place that's both human and outcomes-centred. Examples of some of the clients I've worked with in this space are the International Partnership for Blue Carbon, ASIC, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Sheep Producers Australia and the Australian National Audit Office. I love working in the thick of things. For example, when I finalised the stakeholder engagement strategy for the PNG LNG Project, I presented it to the World Bank on behalf of my client and helped achieve its endorsement. In the public sector, I have led whole of government projects such as a Joint Communication Strategy for the Northern Australia Biosecurity Initiatives; Australia’s first whole-of-Australian-Government media protocol and issues and crisis plan (for the Melbourne 2006 Games) spanning 40 agencies. I also developed the communication management plan to support the rollout of Australia’s first product stewardship scheme - the National TV and Computer Recycling Scheme. Finally, I'm passionate about behavioural economics, and invested in learning more about persuasion from some of the world's foremost experts at Yale via a Rethinking Marketing and Insights: Behavioural Economics Immersion. Since applying these learnings my team has received two prestigious Gold Quill Awards from the International Association of Business Communicators for our work with Australia's Serious Financial Crime Taskforce and NRMA Insurance.
