About Anne Wright

Anne Wright is a lecturer in Creative Computing, specialising in Software Development, particularly web, mobile and database development. Anne runs outreach initiatives for secondary school students, promoting computer science in education. Her aim for these initiatives is to grow the number of students studying Computer Science for the leaving cert. She is particularly passionate about promoting gender balance within computing and STEM. Therefore, many of the outreach initiatives that Anne Wright offers are designed specifically for secondary school girls. Recently Anne has explored projects that put the ‘A’ in STEAM, working with a secondary school art teacher to develop STEM-related Art projects. As an advocate for promoting equality and gender balance in education and industry, Anne Wright is deeply involved in the Athena SWAN process for IADT. She is also a key member of the Irish Network for Gender Equality in Computing (INGENIC). As a practice-based researcher and software development lead Anne’s projects include working as a knowledge provider for companies as they explore innovative ideas and business opportunities. This process involves problem definition, research and analysis, technical design, and implementation of software solutions. Her project work is vast and inter-disciplinary working with experts in Psychology, Art, Film and Creative Media Technology.
