About Annie Needs
I am a 3rd-year chemical engineering PhD candidate in the Woldring Lab at Michigan State University. My research focuses on antibody therapeutic engineering using high-throughput wet-lab screening (e.g, yeast surface display, flow cytometry, biopanning) and computational approaches (e.g, protein-ligand docking simulation, machine learning). Outside of research work, I am passionate about mentoring and STEM outreach. I actively participate in mentorship programs organized by the ChEMS department and the mid-Michigan Graduate Women in STEM. I also helped organize the annual Girls Math and Science Day (May 2023, March 2024) and presented a "science fair" demonstration leading middle-school-aged children through extracting DNA from strawberries.
