About Annie Taylor

I am an HCPC-registered biomedical scientist specialising in clinical biochemistry. I completed her BSc in Biomedical Science at De Montfort University, where I developed a strong foundation in analytical techniques and laboratory diagnostics. I later pursued a PhD in preclinical drug development with a focus on neglected tropical diseases. I have a strong appreciation for sports, which has shaped my understanding of physical health and performance in relation to biomedical science. My research currently focuses on preclinical drug development, sitting at the interface between biology and chemistry, with particular focus on developing potential drug candidates for neglected tropical diseases including human African trypanosomiasis, Chagas disease and leishmaniasis. This predominantly involves exploring synthetic molecules within various bioassays, as well as some plant derived natural products. The design of synthetic molecules is based on either bioactivity guided structure activity relationship analyses or by implementing in silico drug development techniques against relevant drug targets. As a committed professional, I remain engaged in continuous learning and quality assurance, contributing to the advancement of biomedical science within clinical and research settings. In football, I have worked with players across a wide range of ages all the way through from under 5's to open age. I have worked at both grass-roots level, university football and in the elite game. I am currently coaching the Under 14's at Leicester city women working within a multidisciplinary team.
