About Annika Wilcox

Hi! My name is Annika, and I'm a wildlife biologist, ecologist, and environmental educator passionate about Species at Risk conservation, ecological monitoring, and human-wildlife conflict mitigation.I am currently the Ontario Programs Coordinator for Wildlife Preservation Canada's Native Pollinator Initiative, a nationwide multi-species recovery effort for declining and at-risk bumble bees. Prior to this role, I was the Research Biologist for WPC's Eastern Loggerhead Shrike Recovery Program.I bring extensive experience in avian research and monitoring - including bird banding, targeted Species at Risk surveys, acoustic monitoring, and habitat assessments - alongside cross-taxa SAR work with amphibians, reptiles, and insects. I am also deeply engaged in environmental outreach and non-releasable raptor training through my long-term involvement with Wild Ontario.I hold a BSc in Wildlife Biology and Conservation and an MSc in Ecology from the University of Guelph, where my research examined the use of restored agricultural wetlands as breeding habitat for birds, with a focus on Species at Risk.
