About Anouk Middelweerd
In 2012 I started working as a PhD-candidate at the VU Medical Center. My PhD- project involves the development and evaluation of an intervention that aims to empower young adults to be physically active with the aid of modern technology and social media. Part of it is examining determinants of physical activity and testing theoretical models. My main research interest are in social and psychological influences on (healthy) lifestyle, physical activity in particular. Because of the nature of my PhD-project, I have a special interest in the possibilities and opportunities the modern technologies (e.g. smartphone, apps, wearables) could offer in health promotion, how they can be used to deliver highly personalized health interventions, and the related methodology and statistical data analyses.
