About Anson Koh

Future Early Childhood Educator with blazing passion. Hello! I am Anson, currently a third-year student at Ngee Ann Polytechnic studying Early Childhood Development and Education. I decided to pursue in this aspect as i find it a pleasure to be able to work with children. I also find that jobs in this aspect are very meaningful as through this process, not only we get to teach the children their foundation, shape their thoughts and mindset, we also get to learn skills and values we did not know or cared about in the past. Through attachments and internship opportunities, I realised that every child has their own distinctive traits and potential. Hence, I believe that every child should be given an opportunity to explore and construct new knowledge. Growing holistically in a safe and inclusive environment where they can share their thoughts, emotion and learn through play comfortably is something that i would like to provide for the children too. With that being said, I aspire to be an educator who is able to create opportunities like these for the children and allow the love for learning to sprout in them. I would do so by creating interactive lesson plans and resources while tapping on their interest and needs to provide a effective lesson for the children. I have the skills such as class and time management, and kind, caring, observant. According to my colleagues from internship, attachments and peers, they would describe me as a person who is very willing to learn, takes initiatives and a good team player. Most importantly with opportunity given throughout the years such as having a 5-weeks attachment at E-Bridge Pre-School in 2021 and a 6 months internship at My First Skool. I manage to use the knowledge i gained from the modules such as “Curriculum Planning and Implementation” and “The Professional and Reflective Practitioner” during my Internship and practicum attachments. In which I have gained in-field experiences that can further support me in this field. Some example of the experiences includes carrying out lesson plans, managing the children during lesson time, meal time and toileting, and to work with all the teachers in the centre for lessons and different centre events. As an exco member of my secondary school's Badminton and supporting team in NRA, I had opportunities to guide the team in numerous events such as annual camps and competitions. These experiences enhanced my leadership, teamwork, communication, and time management skills, which will help me to communicate and work with various stakeholders in the preschool setting.
