Hello! I am Antara Dalal, currently project JRF in Structural Biology at the Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad. My journey in science has been driven by a deep fascination with the intricate structures and functions of biological macromolecules like ribosomes. Research Interest: My research explores the structural study of protein factory, Ribosome during its translating as well as inactive state using cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography". This work involves investigating structural aspects of protein synthesis in a cell. I am particularly interested in how structural insights can lead to novel therapeutic approaches. Achievements: I qualified for IIT JAM 2022 with an AIR of 131 and BET 2024 with a score of 209. I Contributed to a chapter of Springer titled “Integration of Membrane Technology in Microalgal Photobioreactor for Biodiesel Production Along with Industrial Wastewater Remediation: A Green Approach”. I became a National Winner in YESummit 2021 with my project “Blood group detection kit. Skill Set:• Molecular Biology Techniques: Basic Biochemistry assays like Molecular cloning, Protein purification using Affinity chromatography, Ion exchange chromatography, Gel filtration Chromatography, PCR and RT PCR, western blot, Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay (EMSA), sucrose gradient assay, ribosome purification • Biophysical & Bioinformatics: Nano- Differential Scanning Fluorimetry (Nano DSF), Microscale Thermophoresis (MST), molecular docking, alpha fold 3 Interests: Beyond my research, I am passionate about exploring the applications of structural biology in drug discovery and personalized medicine. I also like drawing, planting, and listening to music. Experience:• Educational qualifications: I completed my master's in Life Science from IISc Bangalore with a specialization in Biochemistry and Biophysics in 2024 and my bachelor’s in biotechnology from Adamas University, Kolkata in 2022.• Summer Internship: During my bachelor's, I gained some experience as an intern at Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Jadavpur working on Biomedical and Biochemical Engineering, at Haldia Institute of Technology & Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata working on Food Packaging Technologies in Food Industrial Practices, at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad working on Protein docking & Exploring Bioactive Compounds for Treating Leukaemia and at Indian Institute of Technology, Indore working on Bacteria & Virus Mediated Gastric & Oral Cancer Progression.
