About Anthony Alicea

I am a multi-facet laboratory animal technologist with 11 years of experience. I always knew I would work with animals. I adored them as a child and still to this day. I have been working around them since 12 years old, where I did odd jobs around a farm 2 towns away. I just wanted to hang out with the cows, and goats but I did learn a lot from my time there. My high school ended up having a farm as well, where I volunteered, but also is were I learned about a career in lab animal tech which is where I would end up. It began as an internship sophomore year of college, which would end up becoming a permanent role after graduation. Throughout the years, I learned husbandry and basic procedures on multiple species, as well as having a chance to organize and maintain certain mouse cell lines for various investigators. I than would move into an assistant manager role at one of the vivarium's. Ordering, scheduling, training, and facility maintenance became my major responsibilities. As well as being able to fill in anywhere as needed.To develop more as a technician I made the decision to take a more technical position with the CTSI lab at Boston Children's Hospital which studies GVHD & Stem-Cell Therapies. I continue to work with this lab today as the senior research assistant, helping our team achieve transplant success, obtain data, and provide top quality care to our patients.
