Background
About Anthony Andreoli
Primarily spend my energies on vulnerability research at Concordia University, in the field of binary code analysis. Our first paper will be released in the coming weeks, and was accepted by DFRWS. Second work is already on-route to take our efforts in this field farther. I completed an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at McGill University in 2016. Towards the end, I programmed as a research assistant under Professor Luis Miranda Moreno's Transportation Lab, where I joined startup Blue City Technology in 2017. By 2018, I had moved away from the startup to fully delve into a second undergraduate degree in Software Engineering (2016 - 2020); a decision largely influenced by Isaac Asimov. I worked at MDA for a year (2018 - 2019), writing tests for CAN hardware, implementing boot code (RAM tests, exception handlers) atop the RAD750 CPU. I later joined TRU Simulation for 6 months in 2019, and wrote flight simulator configuration code, a syslog client, and worked on the YAFFS-NAND interface. Towards the end of my Software undergraduate degree, I was fast-tracked to PhD status by Dr. Aiman Hanna, and became a PhD student under Dr. Mourad Debbabi. Nothing has given me such pleasure as to the time spent learning and (one day?) mastering the techniques of program analysis for the aim of pattern detection. My current career-based efforts are split in two: my love for teaching and the raising of young minds in both programming and spirituality, and my work on binary code analysis for malware and vulnerability pattern detection. My teaching techniques, like the maxim-metaphor-reality, have been influenced by six years in-front of students, covering topics such as Principles of Programming Languages, Data Structures and Algorithms, Object Oriented Programming, and Operating Systems. As well, I provide private tutoring services (in person, and zoom). You can find student reviews here: Outside of work hours, other work occurs. I perform daily spiritual practices like morning study, meditation, and yoga. Proper work, for me, can only be done with a mind at ease, and it is my ultimate goal to achieve such a state through practice. As well, I have the musical itch and have been playing bass for many years, and am currently learning Piano (sight-reading and playing). I prefer a quiet life, mostly left alone from noisy outside sources to accomplish my work as I see fit (i.e, maintaining equipoise of the mind).
