About Anthony Bausas
Mr. Bausas is a native of Virginia Beach, VA, and a 1991 graduate of Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. In 2018, he received his Masters of Information Technology from Virginia Tech specializing in software development, cybersecurity, big data analytics, and machine learning. Mr. Bausas has an active CompTIA Security+ Certification. He is Systems Engineering Level Ill certified by Defense Acquisition University. Mr. Bausas began his career at the Naval Electronics Systems Engineering Activity (NESEA) in St. Inigoes, MD supporting the White House Communications Agency (WHCA) During his tenure with WHCA, Mr. Bausas was involved in project development and systems engineering evaluation for the Radio Maintenance Program and the Cellular Telephone for the Presidential Limousine. He was responsible for the implementation of advanced system features, processes, and requirements for systems such as the Whiskey Paging System and the Y/Z Secure Dialup system. In 2004 Mr. Bausas transition to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division – Dam Neck Activity (NSWCDD-DNA) where he served until 2020 as the project manager of the CW-E Engineering Team and the Principal Investigator and Lead Engineer for the Cognitive ELINT NISE 219 Project. His specialties include electronic warfare, wideband signal digitization, Big Data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. His team’s report on “The application of machine learning and artificial neural networks to RF signal processing for the detection and identification of signals of interest and environmental anomalies.” was published in the 2020 Proceedings for the SPIE Defense + Commercial Sensing Conference. Mr. Anthony Bausas is currently the Office of Naval Research Global Science Advisor to U.S. Fleet Forces Command where he has served since July 2023. In this capacity, he advises the Commander on technological solutions to capability gaps and emerging threats. He serves as the senior N8/N9 staff liaison between the Fleet and the Naval Research & Development Enterprise communicating force requirements back to the Office of Naval Research to help shape science and technology investments. Mr. Bausas has received several awards during his career. He received an On-the-Spot Award from NSWCDD for his work on the Cognitive ELINT project. In 2004, he received a Letter of Commendation, Naval Security Group Activity. In he received a Certificate of Appreciation from, WHCA for his work with the Whiskey Paging System.
