About Anthony Bombik

I am currently an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Sciences department. I am part of the Battery Complexity, Autonomous Vehicles, and Electrification Research Center (BATTCAVE). My research interests include structural batteries, electric vehicle pack optimization, and lithium-ion battery modeling and estimation. I obtained my PhD in Aero Astro Engineering at Stanford managing a research team on structurally integrated Li-ion batteries. I am currently serving on the College of Engineering Outreach and Recruiting committee, as well as the active faculty mentor of the Formula SAE Electric Vehicle student design competition.Previously, I have worked as a flight control engineer intern at Boeing, a vibrations and loads engineer intern on Space Launch System, an adjunct lecturer at Santa Clara University, and a design engineer at Afton Chemical.I pride myself on my well rounded education / industry experience and my ability to relate and communicate with other people. With tons of teaching and work experience in teams, I have developed a natural ability to work well with people in any setting.
