About Anthony Booth

I have worked for Grant Thornton since 1998. Qualified as a chartered accountant in 1989 - no resits - and had a further period of professional experience after qualification, which included passing the ATII exam. I then took the role of finance director at the 'family' company, a small public company controlled by my family at the time, when my predecessor wanted to retire. This gave me first hand experience of the engineering & construction sectors and experience of plc matters as well, but being the early 1990s and really recession time for those industries, I very quickly saw the need for a financial strategy to save the group from failure which I worked up, and then implemented with my colleagues. This process of change culminated in what was really a reverse takeover of the business. I joined Grant Thornton's Manchester office in 1998 and was really looking to make use of my practical experience of family controlled businesses and the issues facing smaller public companies in my work with the firm's clients and contacts. I have managed a wide variety of due diligence and reporting accountant assignments at Grant Thornton and continue to expand my experience by presently working in both the Manchester and London locations.
