About Anthony Chettri

With over 19 years of dedicated experience in the development sector, I am deeply committed to advancing sustainable, community-led solutions that uplift marginalized groups and generate systemic change across India. At the Indo-Global Social Service Society where I have served as a strategic leader for more than seven years, my core contributions include crafting organizational strategies, designing transformative programs, stakeholder management and empowering governance of grassroots NGOs throughout Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal. My expertise lies in developing gender-sensitive frameworks, building strategic partnerships, and integrating data-driven decision-making into community initiatives. A passionate advocate for Paulo Freire’s problem-posing approach, I regularly train community-level workers and NGOs in using participatory, reflective practices to address complex social issues. This methodology underpins much of my work and shapes the way I design and deliver trainings, always aiming to foster critical consciousness and collective agency within the communities I serve. My commitment to inclusive development extends to my scholarly work as well. I authored “Empowering rural women through collective reflection: a problem-posing approach to gender equity in India,” published in the Scopus-indexed Journal of Social Work with Groups, sharing insights on advancing gender equity through transformative group dialogue and action. I am also an advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and social justice, championing dignity, inclusion, and equity for all.
