Team Lead managing the day to day technical operations of a Central Office supporting Local, Long Distance and International Backbones. Provided support for UUnet’s cloud based services. The Central office operated and maintained over one thousand network elements and transmission systems supporting 100 Gig traffic. Extensive knowledge on the design and implementation of complex Sonet and Fiber Optic Networks as well as Ethernet Over Sonet applications. Maintained the advanced ROADM networks consisting of Tellabs, Cisco and Fujitsu systems and related technologies. Responsible for provisioning and maintaining circuits on various Sonet platforms including Fujitsu FLM 150/600/2400 and Flashwave 4500/9500 Sonet systems, Cisco ONS454, Optera 3500 and OADM 5200 series, as well as Ciena Metro OADM’s. Ethernet related products included the ANDA 2200 and series as well as the Overture 45+ and 5100 series. Provided extensive hands on training for techs at various levels on technologies including Sonet, Ethernet, OADM, and ROADM which involved the creation of various templates and Mops for installation and maintenance which are followed today. Member of the Business Continuity Team to ensure operational standards during catastrophic events. This included monitoring and providing resources to the operations in the North East region. Managed and oversaw multiple projects including network optimization, power savings, telemetry, system upgrades and asset recovery.
