About Anthony Cook
August 1988 started as a Deputy Sheriff at the Norfolk Sheriff's Office. In 1992 I was promoted to Corporal by then Sheriff David K. Mapp. In 1994, elected Sheriff Robert J. McCabe started a Master Deputy program where I joined until my departure in November 2005. In August 2007 I worked as a security officer for Norfolk Public Schools, until hired by the Hampton University Police Department in December of the same year. In November 2008, I was hired by the Old Dominion University Police department until October 2014. I am now employed by the city of Portsmouth as Security personnel first at Waters Middle School and now currently at the Mt. Hermon Preschool. I also served as Minister of Music at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in the Seatack Section of Virginia Beach, VA from June 2016 until June 2023 and director of Security. In February of 2024 I was hired by the Portsmouth Sheriff's Office as a School Resource Officer.
