About Anthony Gates

I was born in Australia and have spent the last 19 years abroad. I have lived in Singapore, Malaysia and now China. I received my high school education in Shanghai, earning an International Baccalaureate diploma. I’m in my final year of my Bachelors degree in Economics of International Trade at Donghua University in Shanghai, China. Living and studying in Shanghai has helped me develop an understanding of the Chinese language and it’s culture within a formal and informal level context. My bachelors degree focuses on subjects such as logistics & SCM management, management theory, business law, CSR studies, entrepreneurship & innovation, international business. The plethora of courses that I’m currently undertaking has allowed me to expand my knowledge in business. The course I’m currently studying has allowed me to gain a deeper and well-rounded understanding of the various dimensions of business. I have taken courses that range from studying business law to utilizing Lean Six Sigma as a quality management tool. I received a green belt in training in this course. I’m very much involved in other elements at my university and have taken the opportunity to get involved within the community by joining the CIP Student Association. I have held the role of event manager and club coordinator and for the past year I have been the President of the Student Association. Another benefit of studying at Donghua University has been the chance to study and live in Shanghai. It’s given me a diverse collection of opportunities from earning internships, gaining working experiences whilst building an international network and meeting local and international people. In February of 2019, I had the opportunity to intern at AFEX, in the financial sector in Sydney. I shadowed colleagues in various departments, to learn and better understand the finance institution.
