MTS/Agilent With MTS I was an Applications Engineer. It was my job to lead the customer through the sales channel, specifically the technical side of our sales process, for a to piece of scientific equipment. I was in charge of the Applications Lab, which provided contract lab services. I maintained all lab customers, providing quotes for services, writing detailed lab reports, and following through to help the customer understand his test results. Approximately 5% of my time was traveling to customer sites or trade shows. As Applications Engineer my job was to maintain the lab equipment that is shared between several engineers. This included ownership of instrument hardware, software and calibration specs, providing regular maintenance to minimize machine down time. I conduct installation of instrument hardware and software upgrades, computers and peripherals, electronic test and troubleshooting. Before taking the responsibilities of Application Engineer, I was a Field Service Engineer, where my responsibilities were to install, repair, and train the end users on MTS's material testing equipment. The repair and maintenance of these machines requires a willingness to travel most any place in the world, Asia, Europe, India and the Americas. Once onsite, installation includes integration of several pieces of equipment from computer hardware, software, electronics, and mechanical devices. Training the end user requires step-by-step software instruction, and safety and maintenance of this highly sensitive equipment.
