About Anthony Kristofer Smith-Wright

I discovered my passion for education after working with future first-generation college students with Breakthrough Central Texas. As a first-generation college student myself, I knew how important the guidance of a teacher could be when a family is trying to navigate the complexities of making critical life-changing choices. After completing my degree in Government at the University of Texas at Austin, I joined the 2017 Teacher For America DFW Corps. As a TFA Corps member teaching 5th-grade science at Eastern Hills Elementary, I received my MAT from Texas Wesleyan and was selected as the FWISD Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2021. During this time, I also worked with the district science department to develop resources and professional development sessions that would best support teachers across the district. Using my skills as a teacher to track and influence student data, I became the Campus Data Analyst at Eastern Hills Elementary. This multifaceted role allowed me to learn more about implementing high-quality data analysis tools and procedures with teachers, students, and other critical stakeholders; creating effective and efficient assessment plans; understanding and monitoring second language acquisition progress for emergent bilingual students of various backgrounds; and developing and refining my use of technology as a tool for designing solution-oriented systems.
