About Anthony Mangini

I am honorably retired from the Police Department at the City of Walnut Creek, California. I proudly served as a full-time, sworn peace officer in the State of California for over twenty-five years (since April 1996). I have a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Columbia Southern University. I have a strong background in financial crimes investigations, with duties focused on fraud, forgery, embezzlement and identity theft. I was in the Investigations Bureau for four years, serving some of that time on a federally funded regional task force. In my career, I have investigated no less than one thousand crimes / suspected crimes, including minor property crimes, horrific, violent felonies and complex, high-dollar loss / exposure financial investigations. I have over six years of leadership experience, having served as a patrol sergeant, a special teams sergeant, a patrol lieutenant, and the bomb squad commander for Contra Costa County. I enjoy leading teams and mentoring individuals. I have a strong background in grant application and management. As my organization’s bomb squad commander, I procured and managed over one million dollars in grant funding since 2016. Primarily, I managed federal homeland security grants (State Homeland Security Grant Program [SHSGP] and Urban Areas Security Initiative [UASI] grants). I currently live in east Tennessee with my wife of 28 years and my youngest daughter. I enjoy woodworking and home improvement projects.
