About Anthony Ocallaghan

With over a two decades of dedicated service at Northern Territory Department of Corrections, my journey commenced in Alice springs in as a trainee Correctional officer, which then developed into various Correctional operational roles before moving into staff training. In 2006 I moved from Alice Springs to Darwin to expand on my operational training position within Corrections before moving back into the daily operational roles within the Berrimah facility. Since this move my career has evolved from assisting in the security operations of Darwin correctional center and managing the medium security accommodation sector into managing the complete security operations as the Darwin correctional facility’s Deputy superintendent Security operations to covering as the Relief General Manager. Specializing in crisis management and emergency response, I've honed skills in staff mentoring and employee training to enhance our facility's preparedness and resilience. My mission extends beyond safety protocols; it's about fostering understanding and bridging cultural divides, particularly for Aboriginal communities within the custodial environment which i draw extensively on my Arrernte heritage to establish the cultural bridges between corrections and indigenous prisoners /‘organisations and NGO’s. The team and I are committed to implementing strategic security measures that respect cultural sensitivities, while ensuring the safety of all staff and inmates.
