I am starting my 12th year at FEMA and my focus continues to be resolving appeals for the NFIP as the Lead Examiner. This effort includes training and optimizing our review process to produce a turn-around time for FEMA’s decision in less than 90-days on average. We are getting close. From this effort we hope to soon provide FEMA with data uncovered from our reviews for distribution within Federal Insurance Administration, NFIP industry, and the public. We believe this effort will help improve the claim experience for policyholders. The big project I hope to finalize in 2023 is the SFIP proposal for flood-damage resistant (FDR) betterment coverage. I believe there are beneficial aspects for policyholders and industry, including adjusters.
