About Anthony Verdeja

Anthony W. Verdeja is the Executive Director of the Family Center on Deafness. Prior to joining FCD in 2020, Anthony worked with the Deaf and Interpreter Communities for 30 years in Minnesota, Washington DC, and Florida. He holds 4 National Interpreting Certifications (RID CI, CT, NIC, and NAD IV), a Bachelor of Arts in Theater/ Performing Arts Interpreting from Metropolitan State University, and a Masters of Jurisprudence in Aging, Law and Policy from Stetson University College of Law. Over his career, Anthony has worked as a teacher, mentor, trainer, presenter, and coordinator, as well as served on several state, regional, and national Boards. He received the Association of Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) Recognition Award for outstanding service and contributions to students with disabilities in higher education, the National Disability Inclusion Leadership Award from the National Council On Disability, the Distinguished Service Award from Florida Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Pinellas Park Medical District Exceptional Service Non Profit Award and has been nominated for the Juvenile Welfare Board Pinellas County Dillinger-McCabe Leadership Award two-years in a row. Anthony is humbled and honored to be recipient of the 2024 Community Tampa Bay Silver Medallion Award.
