Antionette Smith Epps, DrPH, MHSA, is Master of Health Administration (MHA) Program Director and Associate Professor at Indiana University at Indianapolis Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator with the Health Care Systems Administration (HCSA) Program in the College of Health Profession at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. Prior to entering academia, she held many leadership positions during an over 30 year career in executive healthcare management; including: The University of MS Medical Center, Jackson, MS; Cooper Green Hospital and Baptist Health System, Birmingham, AL; and The LA County Department of Health Services/MLK Hospital, Los Angeles, CA. Ms. Epps also served as an Instructor in the School of Public Health (SOPH) at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Los Angeles, CA. During her doctoral studies she worked with the UAB School of Medicine Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology as a Research Associate and in the UAB SOPH as a Graduate Trainee, Instructor and Graduate Teaching Assistant. Dr. Epps received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Jackson State University, Jackson, MS; a Master’s of Health Services Administration (MHSA) in Hospital Administration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI and completed a Senior Policy Fellowship sponsored by the National Association of Public Health and Hospitals Institute/New York University. She holds a DrPH from the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) School of Public Health program in Health Care Organization and Policy. Some of Dr. Epps' volunteer activities include: Media For Health, Lakeshore Foundation, Literacy Council of Central Alabama, American Red Cross Project Share Advisory Board, Leadership Birmingham, Alabama Governor’s Task Force on Infant Mortality, National Association of Health Services Executives, American College of Healthcare Executives, United Way of Central Alabama, Cahaba Girl Scout Council, Middle Mississippi Girls Scout Council, and The American Hospital Association Region IV Policy Board. She has also received numerous professional and community service awards.
