About Antonio Bruni

Being an entrepreneur in the technology space has always been in my blood and I have lived by my personal philosophy of ‘Start, Go Big’ since I can remember. I have been involved in the start-up community, working with and helping young entrepreneurs get their ideas off the ground for many years, but my primary role is as the founder and CEO of Picup Logistics Technology Solutions. Launched in 2014, Picup has grown to be a leader in its field, disrupting the industry and leading the charge in the ‘last-mile’ delivery sector through smart tech that connects a fleet of 2500 crowd-sourced riders across South Africa with real-time online orders for household brands. Using smartphone technology, delivery times are radically reduced as traffic, weather and other roadblocks are avoided, greatly enhancing the customer experience and encouraging repeat purchases. While ecommerce has been growing steadily pre-pandemic it was Covid-19 that gave online its big boost. As a result we have expanded exponentially in a few short years to now represent brands such as Dischem, Pick n Pay, uCook, iStore and Waltons. This growth attracted the attention of owners of Cartrack Holdings in 2021, and 70,1% of Picup was acquired for R70-million with a view to develop smarter, more efficient, data-based, logistics technology solutions that are internationally scalable. As CEO, I intend to continue developing the “last-mile” smart technology revolution in South Africa to help brands meet their on-demand needs, while reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
