About Antonio Dalessandro

He is Full Professor of Electronics and Optoelectronics at Sapienza University since March 2022. Associate Professor since 2002 qualified as Full Professor since 2014. He received his Laurea degree cum laude and his PhD in Electronic Engineering at Politecnico of Bari. From 1992 to 1994 he joined former Bellcore (today Telcordia) laboratories in New Jersey, USA, as post-doctoral Member of Tecnica Staff, working on the development of integrated acousto-optic filters/switches for WDM optical communication systems. He has been joining the Department of Information Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications (DIET) of Sapienza University, since 1994. He is the principal investigator and responsible of the DIET Optoelectronic Laboratory he founded in 2001. His research activity is related to integrated optic switches and filters for fibre optic communication systems and for electro-optic sensor systems, liquid crystal devices for flat panel displays. He gave more than thirty invited lectures and talks at International Conferences and Schools. He was member of the scientific committee of several national and international conferences. He is Associate Editor of Photonic Journal and guest editor of special issues of Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals and Optics Express. He teaches course of Electronics, Optoelectronic Sensors, Photonics and Optoelectronics. He is supervisor of several PhD students and Post-Docs. He is responsible of the Laboratory of Optoelectronics of DIET-Sapienza. He has been President of the Italian Liquid Crystal Society since 2010. He is Senior Member of Photonics Society, member of the Optical Society of America, of the International Liquid Crystal Society and serves as Vice-President of the Italian Chapter of the Photonics Society. He was responsible of several European and National projects, and projects funded by the European Office for Aerospace Research and Development of USAir force Research Office (2010-2011). Since November 2018 he is Director of the Sapienza Center of Nanotechnologies applied to Engineering and Scientific Responsible of Sapienza Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Laboratory - SNN Lab. In November 2019 Antonio d'Alessandro was elected President of the Teaching Area Council of Electronics Engineering, which include more than 60 academics and over 600 students. In November 2019 he was appointed Vice-Dean for International programs Faculty of Information Engineering, Informatics and Statistics.
