About Antonio Fierro
Dr. Fierro is the Chief Strategy Officer for Tools 4 Reading and a former Texas State Teacher of the year. He has dedicated his career to early literacy instruction, improving the learning experience of pre-service teaching candidates, and early research and practice that impacts English learners. For almost 20 years, he was a member of the national LETRS cohort of literacy consultants led by Dr. Louisa Moats. He is an accomplished speaker, consultant, and author of several literacy curricula for English learners. Along with his colleague, Dr. Mary Dahlgren, he co-authored Kid Lips®, a curriculum that teaches the articulatory features of English phonemes to young children. Dr. Fierro is dedicated to advancing the knowledge base and understanding of dyslexia and other reading disabilities as his son, Antonio Jr, has dyslexia. He sits on the boards of The Reading League and The Southwest International Dyslexia Association.
