About Antony Chum

Drawing on the disciplines of social epidemiology, human geography, geospatial analytics, and computer science, my research centres on understanding social and built environmental determinants of health and developing strategies to build healthier cities and communities, especially for marginalized communities such as the homeless, low-income, ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ2S+ people. My research approach combines population health data sciences (“big data” analysis) and the application of rigorous social theories (e.g. intersectionality, social ecological theory, minority stress theory, etc.) to investigate social determinants of health and to evaluate policies and interventions aimed at eliminating health disparities using causal modelling.
