About Antti Hurme

Physician–scientist specializing in internal medicine with a research focus on immune regulation and autoimmune disease.I currently work as an Internal Medicine Specialist at Turku University Hospital (TYKS) and am subspecializing in Rheumatology.I hold both an M.D. and a Ph.D. from the University of Turku. My academic work centers on translational immunology, particularly regulatory T-cell biology and immune tolerance mechanisms relevant to chronic inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. I am interested in bridging mechanistic immunology with clinically meaningful therapeutic strategies.Alongside clinical practice, I am actively involved in academic research and international collaboration, with a long-term aim to contribute to the development of precision immunomodulatory therapies.Key interests• Autoimmune and inflammatory rheumatic diseases• Translational immunology• Regulatory T cells and immune tolerance• Precision and cell-based immunotherapies
