E-mail: anu.h.katainen@helsinki.fi Mobile:+358-50-5710055 I am an expert in social scientific research on health behaviour and lifestyles. My work has come to cover a wide range of topical themes of public health, substance use and social inequalities. My doctoral dissertation (2011) presented a unique work on the social stratification of smoking behaviour and in my post-doctoral research project I have investigated the convergences of youth drinking cultures in Europe, focusing also on cultural and class distinction in the ways young people make sense on drinking (Academy of Finland 2012-2015). Most recently I have led a Finnish team in an international consortium studying alcohol marketing strategies and minors’ exposure to alcohol advertising in European Union (European Commission 2015-2016) and an Academy of Finland funded project (2016-2018) on the impact of the social media marketing regulations of alcohol advertising in Finland. I have an extensive experience in implementing comparative research projects, applying and developing qualitative research methodologies and lecturing to both scientific and lay audiences.
