About Anusha Doshi

When I realized pretty early in life that turning into a dolphin was not actually a profession, I settled for the next best thing-becoming a physician. Since that monumental day, more than 15 years have passed and I like to think I've grown a bit in the meantime. I started taking science classes and fell in love with biology and chemistry at some point along the way. I find the human body and its mechanisms fascinating so naturally, I want to pursue a profession in healthcare. In my time at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I have pursued a double major in Biology and Chemistry with a 3.95 cumulative GPA. I have also been actively involved in research in the biology department for the past 3 years. I actually presented my research at a national cell biology conference this past December! One of my other passions is volunteering. I have been actively volunteering in a hospital setting for the past 8 years and in a community setting since the beginning of time (or so it seems)! Recently, I have been sitting with patients and performing art therapy with them to temporarily ease their pain. The proven benefits of art therapy manifest themselves not only in a clinical setting, but also in the general community. Personally, I have seen this in action while executing art therapy projects with children in after school programs. While art therapy's ability to heal is close to my heart, I want to be able to do more to heal patients. I want to combine my love for science with my passion for healing and become a health care professional. Ultimately, my goal is to attend medical school and obtain an M.D, but before I do that, I would like to get experience working in healthcare. Upon graduation, I would like to work as a Medical Assistant and I am currently actively seeking jobs!
