About Anusree Saha

I am currently working as a postdoctoral research associate at NIAB, Cambridge, UK. My research is based on determining the role of strigolactone in wheat nitrogen responsiveness and its downregulation, therefore leading to selecting and developing wheat varieties with lower nitrogen requirement which is critical for the development of sustainable crop production system. Previously, I worked as an Assistant professor at Raja Narendra Lal Women's College (Autonomous),(Midnapore, West Bengal) in the Department of Botany. I taught Botany to both the UG and PG students. I had also been supervising PG students for their M.Sc dissertations. I have completed my PhD in Plant molecular biology from University of Hyderabad in 2022. During my doctoral research, I worked on elucidating the extra-ribosomal roles of Ribosomal protein genes in conferring abiotic stress tolerance in crop plants. Department of Biotechnology, India funded my doctoral fellowship. Presently, I am also working as an Associate Editor for Heliyon Biology (Cell Press) and Biocatalysis and Agricultural Biotechnology (BAB). During my PhD, I have worked with Prof. Christine Raines at University of Essex as a part of Newton Bhabha PhD placement in 2017. I gained expertise in gene editing and learnt to design CRISPR-Cas9 vectors of genetic manipulation during the placement. I have completed my Masters in Plant Biology and Biotechnology from University of Hyderabad in 2015. I have completed by B.Sc from Presidency College,Kolkata in 2013.
