About Anya Buys

Upon completion of my BCur nursing degree in 2010 I completed my community service year at Dora Nginza hospital in Port Elizabeth. Thereafter I joined National Renal Care where I gained valuable experience in Nephrology from 2012 until 2016. In this time, I held various positions such as nurse practitioner, acute coordinator and acting unit manager. In 2016 I had the opportunity to join the Cancercare team as a independant nurse practitioner and primary study coordinator in the trials department. This led to the amazing opportunity to join ICON plc as a CRA dedicated to MSD in 2024. This last year I have worked as part of the general medicine and oncology team on phase 1-3 cardiac and oncology trials. I enjoy working in the research industry as it constantly drives me to grow, learn and adapt. I have always seen myself as a fast learner that easily adapts to new roles and responsibilities. It is very important to me to constantly strive to grow and develop both personally and professionally. The time I have spent in a research environment has showed me that this is a field that will constantly challenge me and expose me to the latest developments in the field.
