About Anya Sutton

A passionate architect with expertise in heritage settings and extensive experience of leading restoration and development projects in collaboration with local charities and churches. Anya joined Birkett Cole Lowe Architects in 2006, whilst studying Architecture and Environmental Design at Sheffield Hallam University. As a Partner of Birkett Cole Lowe LLP, she gained a wide range of experience in a variety of sectors, with particular experience and expertise in; extending and upgrading religious buildings, alterations and extensions to existing buildings, conservation, listed buildings and refurbishment projects. She has proven design, project management, communication and team working skills. She is also a self-builder, winning awards for the conversion of a derelict joiner’s workshop into her new home. Anya has continued her passion for historic buildings and conservation in her role at Thread Architects. She is the lead architect on the development of Broomhill Library, the development of a historic building in the heart of the Broomhill Conservation Area in Sheffield. As a registered inspecting architect for the Diocese of Sheffield she also helps local churches to maintain their buildings and reviews opportunities to expand their facilities and offering to the community. She also works with churches to achieve Net Zero by 2030. She led options and ideas for re-developing the iconic mid-century Holy Cross Church with a new extension alongside completing the Quinquennial Inspection on the buildings upkeep.
