About April Black

I have been a public civil servant for child and adult services in both county and state government for 15+ years. I have always been passionate for social causes with a specific focus on the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. Standing up for the oppressed and marginalized is a core value ingrained at the core of my being. On August 23, 2022, the social justice fight became all the more real for me when my firstborn child lost her life at age 22 to fentanyl poisoning. In her memory and by her lead, we have started a ministry that seeks to empower those who have experienced trauma with three core methods:1) Providing education and empowerment so survivors of trauma can SHOUT against stigmas of shame;2) Empowering others to SHARE their stories of trauma in safe places to find healing and support and build resilience in community; 3) Uplifting healed humans to take their newfound strength to STAND up for justice through advocacy. The biggest desire of my heart is to continue to see our communities strengthened by building the capacity of the individual humans I have the privilege and honor to serve in my day-to-day job duties and through various volunteer opportunities.
