About April L.

Hello, I'm April, the Engineering Manager for the onX Offroad Vertical team.I’m a natural leader from skills I’ve developed as a young AmeriCorps Crew Member and expanded on as Engineering Manager of a seven member multi-platform engineering team. I’ve worked directly with clients as a contractor for Toptal. The key to relationship development with clients is setting a high bar with communication and expectations. This is a consideration when meeting with managers and other team leads during Scrum of scrums as well. When not developing awesome software applications, I enjoy building trucks and participatingIn off-road navigation (map & compass) rallies. In 2019 my team was the highest scoring rookie 4x4 team in the Rebelle Rally, and won for navigation in the Nevada Trophy later that year. In 2020, I rolled my truck during a training exercise, rebuilt it myself, and drove it again in the 2020 Rebelle Rally. This experience lead to the development of an off-road product that was awarded an utility patent in 2023.1+ year of experience as an Engineering Manager5 years as Team Lead and Scrum Master of a 9 member front end team working on multiple apps.
