About April Maddox

I started out in medical transcription but had to pivot when speech recognition became mainstream. A natural transition was to move into medical billing, which I did for a time. Most of that was collections work, though, which was mainly phone conversations with insurance representatives who didn’t want to cover the bills. You can imagine how not fun that was. My passion is Excel spreadsheets. When I am playing in a spreadsheet, I lose track of time. No one uses spreadsheets more than accountants, so I began my education as an accountant. I also love numbers, so that aligned very well with my interests. My first accounting job was at a door manufacturing company. There, I worked for three of the most ethical and inspirational leaders I think I will ever meet. I will forever be grateful for their influence in my life and my career. I am currently working at a new company with an excellent management team and great corporate culture. I am always learning something new with this company. It is challenging at times, but I love a good challenge.
