About April Yip

A philanthropy professional who keeps exploring ways to facilitate positive changes in individuals' lives. In my current role as a Assistant Programme Officer for East and Southeast Asia in EMpower - The Emerging Markets Foundation, I support grants management, programme monitoring and regional capacity strengthening initiatives for local not-for-profit organisations in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam who focus on empowering marginalised young people in the regions. I am currently also a KonMari method® consultant-in-training, learning and striving to inspire others to (re-)discover joy in themselves, to realise self-worth of living in a joyful space, and to turn their ideal lifestyles into reality while tidying up with KonMari method®. Prior to joining EMpower, I was a Programme Mentor in Teach Unlimited Foundation, focused on leveraging young people’s learning motivation, learning attitude, and self-esteem to achieve their full potential via mentoring approach. Thanks to every educator I met when I volunteered in different environmental conservation/education programmes as an environmental science student, I was inspired to continue contributing to the field of youth development.
