About Arazoo Patel

I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Geo-Environmental Engineering at Carleton University, Ottawa, focusing on enhancing the long-term behavior of polymer-amended fluid fine tailings and investigating time-dependent effects like creep, thixotropy, and structuration. With a strong background in mine waste management and various tailings treatment technologies, I specialize in the long-term behavior of amended oil sands tailings and soft Leda clay. During my research project, I have conducted extensive research on the optimization of flocculation protocols, the time-dependent behaviors, and consolidation of oil sands tailings, Leda clay, and tailings dam breach analysis. I possess excellent problem-solving skills and project management expertise, ensuring efficient and effective research outcomes. As an effective communicator, I excel at presenting complex research findings to diverse audiences, including conferences, COSIA committee members, and university research groups. Additionally, I am a registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). I am driven by results and thrive in collaborative environments. I am confident that my knowledge, skills, and passion for advancing tailings management will contribute significantly to the field.
